NABIDH Dubai: The Complete 2026 Integration Guide

NABIDH — the National Backbone for Integrated Dubai Health — is Dubai Health Authority's mandatory Health Information Exchange. Every DHA-licensed clinic, hospital, pharmacy and diagnostic centre must be integrated with NABIDH before the license activates and stays valid. This guide covers exactly what NABIDH is, why it matters, which EMR vendors are certified, how much integration costs, and the step-by-step process our team runs 30+ times a year for Dubai clinics.

What is NABIDH?

NABIDH (نبض) is DHA's centralised Health Information Exchange launched to unify every patient's medical record across Dubai. Instead of siloed EMRs at each clinic, NABIDH creates one longitudinal record per Emirates ID — accessible with consent to any DHA-licensed practitioner treating that patient.

Why NABIDH is mandatory for every Dubai clinic

DHA circular DHA/HRD/2020/... makes NABIDH integration a licensing pre-condition. No NABIDH connection = no facility activation, no license renewal, no insurance empanelment.

NABIDH-certified EMR vendors (2026)

DHA maintains an approved-vendor list. The most commonly deployed NABIDH-certified EMRs for small-to-mid Dubai clinics are Bayanaty, Insta HMS, Ezovion, PACT, ClinicMinds and Medstar. Larger hospitals typically integrate via Cerner, Epic or InterSystems connectors. Always verify current certification before contracting.

Step-by-step NABIDH integration

  1. 1

    EMR selection

Pick a NABIDH-certified EMR that matches your specialty, billing model and budget. Spectronix maintains a live comparison of DHA-approved vendors.

  2. 2

    Contracting & licensing

Sign EMR licence, hosting and NABIDH connector agreements. Confirm SLA, uptime and data-residency (UAE-hosted) obligations.

  3. 3

    Facility onboarding on NABIDH portal

Register your facility on the DHA NABIDH portal, upload license, assign a compliance officer and receive integration credentials.

  4. 4

    EMR configuration & data mapping

Vendor configures the EMR, maps clinical vocabularies to ICD-10 / CPT / LOINC, and connects the FHIR API to NABIDH.

  5. 5

    UAT & DHA sign-off

User acceptance testing against DHA test scenarios (registration, encounter, prescription, lab). DHA compliance team signs off before go-live.

  6. 6

    Go-live & audit readiness

Facility switches to live NABIDH transmission. Ongoing quarterly compliance audits — Spectronix keeps clients audit-ready.

NABIDH cost estimate

  • EMR license (NABIDH-certified): AED 12,000–40,000 one-off
  • NABIDH connector & integration: AED 8,000–25,000 one-off

Frequently asked questions

What is NABIDH?

NABIDH (National Backbone for Integrated Dubai Health) is Dubai Health Authority's mandatory Health Information Exchange (HIE) that connects every DHA-licensed healthcare facility in Dubai. It creates a unified electronic medical record for every patient across public and private providers.

Is NABIDH integration mandatory for a clinic in Dubai?

Yes. Every DHA-licensed facility — clinics, day-surgery centres, hospitals, diagnostic centres and pharmacies — must integrate their Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system with NABIDH before final DHA activation. Non-compliance blocks license renewal.

How long does NABIDH integration take?

Between 4 and 12 weeks depending on the EMR vendor. Certified NABIDH-ready EMRs (Bayanaty, Insta HMS, PACT, Nphies-compatible systems) are fastest. Custom or non-certified systems can take 3–4 months.

How much does NABIDH integration cost?

Typical range AED 15,000–60,000 one-off, plus AED 500–3,000/month for hosting and support. Costs vary by facility size, EMR vendor and number of user seats. Spectronix negotiates package rates with certified vendors.

Which EMR systems are NABIDH-certified?

DHA publishes an updated Approved EMR Vendors list. Popular certified vendors include Bayanaty, Insta HMS, Ezovion, Medstar, PACT, ClinicMinds and Nphies. Always confirm the current NABIDH certification status before signing.

What data does NABIDH exchange?

Patient demographics, encounters, diagnoses (ICD-10), procedures (CPT), prescriptions, lab results, radiology reports, vaccinations and discharge summaries. HL7 FHIR is the exchange standard.

Can Spectronix help with NABIDH integration?

Yes. We manage vendor selection, contracting, integration testing, DHA sign-off and staff training end-to-end — one of the most common services we deliver during clinic setup.

Need NABIDH integration for your Dubai clinic?

We manage EMR selection, contracting, integration and DHA sign-off end-to-end.
