DHA Licensing Dubai — Doctors, Specialists & Clinics

The DHA (Dubai Health Authority) license is mandatory for every doctor, nurse, allied-health professional and healthcare facility operating outside Dubai Healthcare City. The licensing pathway has four sequential stages — and the order matters:

1. DataFlow primary-source verification (PSV) — your credentials are verified directly with the issuing university, council and previous employers. Typical turnaround: 4–8 weeks.
2. DHA eligibility assessment — based on your degree, experience and country of qualification, DHA classifies you as GP, Specialist or Consultant.
3. Prometric or DHA assessment exam — required for most categories. Spectronix offers structured preparation aligned to the applicable assessment syllabus.
4. Final DHA license issuance — after exam pass + facility offer letter, DHA issues your professional license, valid for 12 months and renewable.

DHA recognises three professional categories with different scope of practice, salary ceiling and clinic-ownership rights. Spectronix can review the available documents and intended title against the applicable requirements. DHA determines the final professional title and eligibility.

• General Practitioner (GP) — MBBS / MD + minimum 2 years post-graduation experience. Can run a GP clinic, cannot supervise specialists.
• Specialist — recognised postgraduate (MRCP, MRCS, MD, board cert) + 3+ years specialty experience. Can be Medical Director of a specialty clinic.
• Consultant — senior postgraduate (FRCS, FRCP, MD/PhD) + 7+ years specialty experience. Highest billing tier, hospital privileges, can run multi-specialty clinics.

A DHA facility license is separate from a personal DHA license. For a clinic you'll need:

• Trade license (DED Mainland or DHCC free-zone)
• DHA Initial Approval (IA) of your premises layout
• Construction & fit-out per DHA design standards
• Equipment list MOHAP-registered, vendor-verified
• Medical Director appointed (with valid DHA license)
• Final DHA inspection + facility license
